Our Story: How #KickRacism Came to Be

Hip Hop Culture

Humanitarian Award recognizing exceptional contributions to hip-hop culture and social impact.

Lifetime Achievement

Honoring an individual dedicated their lifetime to social justice and humanitarian work.

Youth Award

Recognizing exceptional young leaders driving change and humanitarian achievement.

The Makpon Award

Handmade Makpon from artisans in the Benin Republic. In the Kingdom of Dahomey (now modern-day Benin), the makpon (or macpon) refers to the royal ceremonial scepter. The makpon is a highly symbolic and fitting award for the Hip Hop Humanitarian Awards Gala because it directly aligns with the Second International Decade for People of African Descent (2025–2034) themes of Recognition, Justice, and Development.

The scepter symbolizes restoration of heritage, agency and leadership, commitment to progress, and resilience and identity—representing the transformation of conflict into structured leadership and culture, a powerful metaphor for the resilient history of the African diaspora.
